Professor of family law at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Member of the Academia Europaea. President of the International Society of Family Law (ISFL). Chair of the Family Law in Europe: Academic Network (FL-EUR). Member of the Expert Group of the Commission on European Family Law (CEFL). Editor-in Chief of the open-access double-blind peer-reviewed journal Family & Law, member of the editorial board of the Tijdschrift Familie- en Recht and the Familie & Recht Book Series, member of the editorial- advisory board of the Tijdschrift voor Privaatrecht. She is an author of several monographs and more than hundred articles written in Dutch, English and Russian. Her main research areas are: European & Comparative Family Law and Dutch Family Law, with particular regard to the law relating to relationships, divorce & post-divorce parentage and adult protection.
Masha Antokolskaia graduated in law at Moscow State Law Academy and at the University of Amsterdam. She was awarded a PhD in Moscow in 1988. From 1989 till 1998 she taught civil and family law at Moscow State Law Academy. In 1993-1995 she was a member of the drafting team of the Russian Family Code. From 1998 until 2005 she was a senior research fellow of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences at the Molengraaff Institute of Private Law, University of Utrecht.
